Possible Causes
High water pressure, No thermal expansion tank on closed system, Faulty T&P valve, Overheating water temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: The T&P valve is a critical safety device. Do not cap or plug it. Hot water discharge can cause burns.
- Check temperature setting: Ensure the Giant heater is not set excessively high.
- Measure water pressure: Use a pressure gauge on a hose bib to check static pressure. If above 80 psi, install or service a pressure‑reducing valve.
- Thermal expansion tank: On closed systems (with check valves), install or service a properly sized expansion tank on the cold inlet.
- Test T&P valve: Lift the test lever briefly to flush debris. If it continues to drip, replace the T&P valve with a matching rating.
