If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Work on mains connections only if you are competent. Otherwise, call an electrician.
Steps:
- Check fused spur: Ensure the isolator is rated correctly (usually 13A) and that the fuse is intact and firmly seated. Replace a suspect fuse with the correct rating only.
- Tighten terminals: With power off, remove the fused spur cover and check that live, neutral, and earth conductors are tight and not heat‑damaged.
- Dedicated supply: Confirm the water heater is on a dedicated circuit as per Gledhill’s installation instructions. Overloaded circuits can cause voltage dips.
- Internal inspection: Look at the PCB for swollen capacitors or burn marks around the low‑voltage power supply section. If present, the PCB should be replaced.
Note: Persistent E09 with correct wiring may indicate a supply issue from the property side; an electrician should test the incoming voltage and circuit loading.
