Possible Causes
Blocked condensate trap, Frozen external condensate pipe, Sagging or incorrectly sloped condensate pipe, Debris in trap outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Condensate is mildly acidic; wear gloves and eye protection when handling.
- Check external pipe: Inspect the condensate discharge pipe outside for freezing (in cold weather) or blockages. Thaw gently with warm (not boiling) water if frozen.
- Clean trap: With power off, remove the condensate trap as per Ideal instructions. Empty and rinse it, removing any sludge or debris.
- Check fall: Ensure the condensate pipe runs downhill continuously with no upward loops or sags.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the trap securely and run the heater to confirm condensate drains freely.
