Possible Causes
Dirty pilot injector, Weak gas supply to pilot, Faulty thermocouple, Faulty pilot safety valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Follow the lighting instructions on the appliance. If you smell gas, stop and ventilate.
- Clean pilot orifice: With gas off, remove the pilot tube and gently clean the injector with compressed air; do not enlarge the hole.
- Check thermocouple position: Ensure the thermocouple tip is fully engulfed by the pilot flame.
- Replace thermocouple: If the pilot lights but goes out after releasing the button, the thermocouple is often defective and should be replaced with a compatible Junkers part.
- Gas valve check: If a new thermocouple does not solve it, the pilot safety valve must be tested and replaced by a professional.
