Possible Causes
Defective condenser thermistor, disconnected sensor, damaged harness, control board failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power before removing the top cover.
- Access condenser sensor: Remove the top cover to expose the condenser coil (usually wrapped around the tank or located in the upper section).
- Check sensor placement: Ensure the thermistor is properly attached to the condenser coil or bracket and has not fallen off.
- Inspect wiring: Look for pinched or cut wires. Reseat the connector at the control board.
- Test thermistor: Disconnect and measure resistance; compare to the service chart. Replace if readings are abnormal.
- Replace sensor: Install a new condenser temperature sensor / thermistor and secure it in the correct location.
- Control board check: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
