Possible Causes

Overheated power triac module, Failed triac or IGBT on main PCB, Blocked ventilation around electronics, Poor thermal contact to heat sink

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power and wait several minutes for capacitors on the control board to discharge.

  • 1. Check ventilation: Ensure the Kospel heater has adequate clearance around it and that ventilation slots are not blocked by dust or objects.
  • 2. Inspect control board: Remove the cover and locate the power triac/IGBT section on the PCB (often attached to a heat sink). Look for burn marks, cracked components, or discolored PCB.
  • 3. Heat sink contact: Confirm that the power devices are firmly screwed to the heat sink and that any thermal pads are intact. Loose mounting can cause overheating.
  • 4. Clean dust: Carefully remove dust from the board and heat sink using dry compressed air (power off).
  • 5. Replace faulty module: If the triac or power module is visibly damaged or tests faulty, replace the main control board or the power module assembly as specified by Kospel.

Because this involves high-energy switching components, board-level repair should be left to qualified service personnel.
