Possible Causes
Corroded or cracked heat exchanger, Loose compression fittings on inlet/outlet, Damaged O-rings in hydraulic block, Freeze damage to internal piping
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and close the water supply immediately. Water and electricity together are dangerous.
- 1. Isolate and drain: Close inlet valve, open a hot tap to relieve pressure, and if possible, drain the heater.
- 2. Remove cover: Inspect inside for the exact leak source—heat exchanger, fittings, or hydraulic block.
- 3. Tighten fittings: Carefully tighten any loose compression or threaded fittings. Do not overtighten plastic parts.
- 4. Replace seals: If leaks are from joints or the hydraulic block, replace O-rings or the hydraulic block assembly using Kospel parts.
- 5. Heat exchanger: If the heat exchanger itself is leaking, it must be replaced; repair is not recommended.
