Possible Causes
Insufficient water flow to trigger heater, Clogged inlet filter, Faulty flow sensor not detecting demand, Gas supply turned off
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power and gas before removing covers. If you smell gas, stop and call a professional.
- 1. Confirm demand:
- Open a hot water tap fully and check if the flow is strong.
- If flow is weak, clean faucet aerators and shower heads.
- 2. Check gas supply:
- Ensure the gas shutoff valve to the heater is fully open.
- Verify other gas appliances work.
- 3. Clean inlet filter:
- Close the cold water inlet valve.
- Remove and clean the inlet filter screen.
- Reinstall, open valve, and test.
- 4. Observe ignition sequence:
- With the front cover on, listen for fan and ignition clicks when hot water is demanded.
- If nothing happens, the flow sensor may not be signaling the PCB.
- 5. If problem persists: Have a technician test the flow sensor and ignition system and replace faulty components.
