Possible Causes

Leaking plate heat exchanger, Failed O-rings on hydraulic connections, Cracked DHW flow sensor housing, Corroded storage tank (on cylinder models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and close the cold water inlet valve. If leak is severe, also close the hot outlet and gas valve. Risk of electrical shock and water damage.

  • Locate leak source: Remove the front cover and inspect all visible joints, the plate heat exchanger, pump, and sensors for signs of dripping or corrosion.
  • Tighten or reseal joints: Gently tighten union nuts and replace any flattened or damaged O-rings.
  • Replace cracked components: If the flow sensor body or plastic manifolds are cracked, replace them with original Protherm parts.
  • Tank inspection (storage models): If water is seeping from the tank body or insulation, the tank may be corroded and require replacement.

Warning: Do not operate the heater with an active leak; water can reach live electrical parts.
