Possible Causes
Failed condenser thermistor, Sensor not in proper contact with coil, Broken sensor harness, Control board input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power. Do not disturb refrigerant tubing more than necessary.
Steps to check:
- 1. Locate condenser sensor: Access the top of the unit and find the sensor attached to the condenser coil or discharge line.
- 2. Verify attachment: Ensure the sensor is tightly clipped or strapped to the coil/line. Re-secure if loose.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Check the harness for damage and reseat the connector at the control board.
- 4. Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare to spec. Replace the sensor if out of range.
- 5. Evaluate control board: If a known-good sensor still results in F3, the control board may need replacement.
Warning: Do not apply open flame or high heat to the sensor or tubing.
