How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and turn gas OFF. Venting issues can cause carbon monoxide hazards.
- Step 1 – Inspect venting: Check the vent and intake pipes from the Ruud power vent heater to the termination. Remove any obstructions and ensure proper slope and support.
- Step 2 – Check pressure tubing: Remove the blower access panel. Inspect the rubber tubing from the blower to the pressure switch for cracks, kinks, or disconnections. Reattach or replace as needed.
- Step 3 – Test blower operation: Restore power (gas still OFF) and call for heat. Listen for the blower. If it does not run, the blower or control may be faulty.
- Step 4 – Replace pressure switch: If the blower runs but the code persists, replace the OEM Ruud pressure switch. Disconnect wires and tubing, remove mounting screws, and install the new switch.
If problems continue, a technician should test the blower motor and control board.
