Dirty or misaligned igniter/flame rod, Weak spark, Poor ground, Low gas pressure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn gas control to OFF and wait at least 5 minutes to clear gas before relighting attempts.
- Inspect igniter: Remove the burner access cover. Check the spark igniter and flame rod for soot or corrosion. Clean gently with fine abrasive pad.
- Check ground: Ensure the burner assembly and gas control have a solid metal-to-metal ground connection.
- Verify gas supply: Confirm the manual gas valve is fully open and other gas appliances operate normally. If not, contact your gas supplier.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall burner assembly, ensuring proper alignment. Follow lighting instructions. If E1 persists, the igniter assembly or gas control may need replacement.
