Possible Causes

Cold water entering hot tank causing condensation, Small leak at hot or cold connections, Leaking T&P valve threads

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Water on top of the heater can reach electrical components. Turn off power if present.

  • Dry and observe: Wipe the top dry and run the heater. Observe where moisture first appears.
  • Check fittings: Tighten hot and cold nipples and T&P valve threads. Use approved pipe sealant if reassembling.
  • Condensation: Light condensation at initial startup can be normal, especially with cold inlet water. It should diminish as the tank warms.
