Takagi controller displays error 1111 and the unit will not operate.

Safety first: Turn OFF gas and power. If you smell gas, do not attempt to relight or reset; contact your gas supplier or a licensed technician.

Steps:

• 1. Confirm gas supply and type: Ensure the manual gas valve is fully open. Verify that the heater is set up for the correct gas type (NG vs LP) as per the rating plate. If the gas meter or LP tank is low or recently changed, have a professional check pressure.
• 2. Reset the controller: Turn power OFF for 1 minute, then ON. Clear the error and attempt operation. If 1111 reappears immediately, proceed with inspection.
• 3. Inspect igniter and flame rod wiring: Remove the front cover. Check that the igniter and flame rod leads are firmly connected to the control board and not swapped. Look for damaged insulation or burn marks.
• 4. Clean ignition components: Remove and clean the igniter and flame rod with fine abrasive pad to remove oxidation. Reinstall with correct gap and alignment per service manual.
• 5. Burner and combustion check: Inspect burner for heavy rust, debris, or water damage. Clean or replace as needed.
• 6. Professional diagnosis: If the error persists after cleaning and verifying gas supply, the ignition module or main PCB may be defective. Replacement and gas pressure verification should be done by a qualified technician.
