Possible Causes
Stuck or scaled flow sensor turbine, Failed flow sensor, Debris in cold water inlet, Damaged flow sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power and gas. Close the cold and hot isolation valves and relieve water pressure before removing any water components.
Steps:
- 1. Clean inlet filter: Remove and clean the cold water inlet filter screen to remove debris that could affect the flow sensor.
- 2. Remove flow sensor: With water isolated and pressure relieved, remove the flow sensor assembly from the cold inlet side.
- 3. Inspect and clean: Check the turbine/impeller for scale or debris. Clean gently with a soft brush. Ensure it spins freely.
- 4. Check wiring: Inspect the flow sensor cable and connector for damage. Reseat the connector at the PCB.
- 5. Replace if necessary: If the sensor is damaged or still reports error 441 after cleaning, replace it with a genuine Takagi flow sensor.
- 6. Restore service: Reassemble, open valves, restore power and gas, and test hot water flow.
