• 1. Check cable connections: Inspect the remote controller cable at both the heater and the remote. Ensure plugs are fully seated.
• 2. Inspect cable: Look for cuts, staples through the cable, or crushed sections. Replace damaged cable.
• 3. Verify polarity: If the remote uses two-conductor wiring, ensure the + and – terminals are not reversed at either end.
• 4. Test with short cable: Temporarily connect the remote using a short, known-good cable near the unit. If it works, the original cable run is faulty.
• 5. Replace remote or PCB: If wiring is good but error 701 persists, the remote controller or main PCB may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
