Possible Causes
Failed EEPROM memory on control board, dead RTC backup capacitor or battery, firmware corruption, power supply noise affecting memory
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing covers.
Steps:
- Power cycle: Disconnect power for several minutes, then restore and attempt to reprogram settings.
- Check for surge damage: Inspect the control board for signs of surge or lightning damage. If present, the board should be replaced.
- Firmware reload: If available, have an authorized service center reload firmware to the board.
- Replace control board: If E17 persists and settings are not retained, replace the electronic control board which contains the memory and RTC.
Note: There are no user-serviceable memory components; replacement of the board is the standard remedy.
