Possible Causes
Faulty DHW flow switch or sensor, Stuck 3-way diverter valve (on combi units), Incorrect wiring of DHW call, Clogged inlet filter reducing flow below activation threshold
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and close the cold water supply before removing any water components.
- 1. Check display: Observe the control panel while opening a hot water tap. Many Triangle Tube units show a DHW demand icon. If no demand is indicated, the control is not seeing flow.
- 2. Verify flow rate: Open a nearby hot tap fully. If flow is weak, clean faucet aerators and check for partially closed valves. Low flow may not trigger the DHW sensor.
- 3. Inspect DHW flow switch/sensor: Locate the DHW flow switch on the cold inlet. Check wiring and connectors. If accessible, remove and inspect for debris or scale preventing movement. Clean gently and reinstall.
- 4. Check inlet filter: Many Triangle Tube units have a mesh filter on the cold inlet. Shut off water, relieve pressure, remove the filter, and rinse out debris.
- 5. Combi diverter valve: On combi models, verify that the 3-way diverter valve moves when DHW is called (you may hear or feel it shift). If stuck, the valve cartridge may need replacement by a technician.
- 6. Test again: Restore water and power, open a hot tap, and confirm that the burner starts and hot water is produced.
