Possible Causes
Leaking plate heat exchanger, Corroded primary heat exchanger, Loose union on cold or hot connections, Cracked condensate trap or hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and close the cold water inlet. If connected to a heating system, isolate that as well.
- Identify leak source: Remove the front cover and use a flashlight to trace the water path. Check around the Weishaupt plate heat exchanger, pump unions, and pipe joints.
- Tighten unions: Gently tighten any accessible compression or union fittings that are seeping. Do not overtighten plastic parts.
- Condensate vs. water: Determine if the leak is clear condensate from the trap or system water. Condensate leaks often occur at the plastic trap or hose and can be fixed by reseating or replacing them.
- Heat exchanger leak: If water is emerging from the body of the primary or plate heat exchanger, the component must be replaced by a technician.
