Condensate Drain Fault
F10 error, hybrid water heater indicates condensate or drain issue, may shut down heat pump mode
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Blocked condensate drain line, full condensate pan, improperly sloped drain hose, frozen drain line, failed condensate pump (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker.
Drain system checks (hybrid models):
- Locate the condensate drain outlet and tubing from the heat pump section.
- Inspect the drain pan for standing water. If full, carefully remove water with a wet/dry vacuum or absorbent towels.
- Disconnect the drain hose and flush it with warm water to clear slime, algae, or debris.
- Ensure the drain hose slopes continuously downward to the drain point with no sags.
If a condensate pump is used:
- Verify the pump has power and the float switch moves freely.
- Clean the pump reservoir and check the discharge line for blockages.
- Replace the condensate pump if it does not run when the float is lifted.
After clearing:
- Reconnect the drain, restore power, and run the unit. Confirm that condensate flows freely.
