Possible Causes
Incorrect gas/air ratio, Blocked or partially blocked burner, Faulty ionisation electrode, Faulty gas valve modulation control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is a combustion-related fault. Only a Gas Safe engineer with a calibrated flue gas analyser should adjust combustion or gas valves.
Engineer procedure:
- Check the burner for contamination, rust, or debris; clean or replace the burner as required.
- Inspect and clean the ionisation electrode and ignition electrodes; ensure correct positioning and gap.
- Perform a full combustion analysis at minimum and maximum rate, adjusting the gas valve modulation (where permitted) to achieve values specified by Worcester Bosch.
- Verify the condensate trap and siphon are clear to prevent flue gas recirculation.
- If combustion cannot be set correctly, replace the gas valve and re-commission.
