Possible Causes
Stuck brine refill valve, Clogged brine line flow control, Leaking brine valve seat, Faulty safety float
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and close the inlet valve. Use caution when handling salty water.
- Stop overflow: Place the softener in BYPASS and use a wet/dry vacuum or bucket to remove excess water from the brine tank.
- Inspect safety float: Open the brine well and verify that the float moves freely and shuts off water when lifted. Clean any salt buildup and ensure the float rod is straight.
- Check brine valve: Remove and inspect the brine valve assembly at the control head. Look for debris or wear on the valve seat that could prevent proper shutoff. Clean or replace as needed.
- Inspect refill flow control: Check the brine line flow control (BLFC) for blockage or incorrect size. Replace if damaged.
- Test refill: After reassembly, run a manual regeneration and observe the brine refill stage to ensure the water level stops at the correct height.
