Possible Causes
Incorrect hardness or capacity settings, Faulty flow meter pulses, Control board calculation error, Electrical noise on sensor line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Work with dry hands around the control panel; unplug the unit if removing covers.
- Verify programming: Enter the setup menu and confirm that water hardness, resin capacity, and reserve settings match your AFWFilters system and local water conditions.
- Check flow meter pulses: Run water and observe the flow rate display. If it jumps erratically or shows flow when no water is running, inspect and reseat the flow meter wiring. Replace the flow meter if readings remain unstable.
- Inspect routing: Ensure the flow meter cable is not bundled tightly with high-voltage lines or pump wiring that could induce electrical noise.
- Reset control: Perform a factory reset if available in the menu, then re-enter all settings. Monitor regeneration behavior over several days.
- Replace control board: If ERR8 continues with a known-good flow meter and correct settings, the control board may be defective and should be replaced.
