Possible Causes
Cracked control valve body, Loose plumbing fittings, Damaged O-rings on inlet/outlet, Over-tightened fittings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and close inlet and outlet valves. Relieve pressure by opening a faucet.
- Dry and inspect: Wipe the control head dry and observe where water reappears. Identify whether it is from a fitting, seam, or crack.
- Check fittings: Tighten inlet/outlet and drain fittings by hand plus a small additional turn with a wrench. Do not over-tighten plastic fittings.
- Replace O-rings: Remove leaking fittings and inspect O-rings. Replace any flattened, cracked, or cut O-rings with AFWFilters-compatible seals.
- Inspect for cracks: If water seeps from the valve body itself, the housing may be cracked from freezing or stress and will require replacement of the entire control valve.
