How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the softener before removing the control cover. Avoid placing fingers near moving gears when powered.

Observe operation: Start a manual regeneration and briefly listen to identify whether the noise comes from the motor/gear area or water flow.
Inspect gears: Remove the cover and examine the cam gear and any intermediate gears for missing teeth or excessive wear. Replace damaged gears.
Check motor mounts: Ensure the drive motor is securely mounted and not vibrating against the housing.
Inspect piston: Remove and inspect the piston for scoring or binding that could cause the motor to strain. Replace piston and seals if worn.
Re-test: Reassemble and run another regeneration to confirm noise reduction.
