Automatic regeneration failure
Softener will not regenerate automatically at the programmed time
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Incorrect time-of-day, Regeneration time set during no-power period, Meter not counting flow, Disabled auto-regeneration setting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Use caution when working around the control panel; unplug if removing covers.
- Check time and schedule: Verify the current time-of-day and the programmed regeneration time. Ensure AM/PM is correct and that the unit has power at that time.
- Verify meter function: Run water and confirm that the display shows flow and remaining capacity decreasing. If not, troubleshoot the flow meter.
- Check regen mode: Ensure the control is set to metered or time-clock regeneration as desired and that auto regeneration is not disabled.
- Manual test: Start a manual regeneration. If it runs correctly manually but never automatically, the control board’s timer function may be failing and require replacement.
