Amfa4000
Water Hammer / Rapid Valve Transition
Amfa4000 is very noisy during regeneration (loud banging or hammering sounds)
Advertisements
Possible Causes
High inlet pressure without shock arrestor, Loose Amfa4000 mounting or pipe supports, Rapid closing of internal valve pistons, Undersized or rigid plumbing causing resonance
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: High pressure can cause sudden pipe movement. Do not stand directly over unsupported pipes during testing.
- 1. Check pipe supports: Ensure all pipes around the Amfa4000 are securely clipped to walls or joists to reduce movement.
- 2. Measure pressure: Use a gauge to check mains pressure. If high, install or adjust a pressure reducing valve upstream.
- 3. Install water hammer arrestor: Fit a hammer arrestor near the Amfa4000 inlet if hammer persists.
- 4. Verify regeneration time: Schedule regeneration for night hours when water usage is low to minimize disturbance.
If noise continues despite proper pressure and supports, internal valve components may be slamming shut and a valve head service may be required.
