Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the inlet valve. Use caution when working around a full brine tank; saltwater is corrosive.
- 1. Stop the overflow: Place the Amfa4000 in bypass to prevent further water entering the system. If the brine tank is near overflowing, manually bail out excess brine into a suitable container.
- 2. Inspect the safety float: Remove the brine well cover and lift out the float assembly. Clean off salt bridges and sludge. Ensure the float moves freely and the shutoff valve at the bottom is not jammed open.
- 3. Check refill settings: On the control panel, verify the programmed refill time or volume matches the Amfa4000 specification. Reduce if it has been increased beyond factory values.
- 4. Examine brine valve seat: With water off and valve head depressurized, inspect the brine valve seat and O-ring in the control head for debris or damage that could allow continuous leakage into the brine tank.
- 5. Inspect brine line: Check the brine line for cracks or low spots that could create a siphon effect. Replace damaged tubing.
After cleaning and adjustments, restore service and monitor the next regeneration. If E09 recurs, the brine valve assembly or entire valve head may need replacement.
