Possible Causes

Kinked or elevated drain hose from Amfa4000, Blocked drain line or air gap, Clogged drain port in valve head, Frozen or partially frozen drain pipe in cold conditions

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the inlet valve. Be prepared for discharge of salty water when opening the drain line.

  • 1. Inspect drain hose routing: Ensure the drain hose runs downhill or with minimal rise to the drain point and is not kinked or crushed behind the unit.
  • 2. Check drain termination: Verify the air gap or standpipe is not blocked by debris. Clear any obstructions.
  • 3. Clean drain port: Disconnect the drain hose at the Amfa4000 valve head and inspect the port for scale or debris. Flush with clean water until flow is unobstructed.
  • 4. Thaw frozen sections: In cold climates, check external drain runs for freezing. Gently thaw and insulate as needed.

Reconnect the drain line securely, restore water and power, then run a manual regeneration. If E16 recurs, the internal drain piston or seal pack may be worn and require service.
