E17 error and the Amfa4000 indicates resin bed compaction or high differential pressure
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Shut off water and relieve pressure before disconnecting the resin tank. Resin is heavy; use proper lifting technique.
- 1. Check flow and pressure: Compare pressure before and after the Amfa4000 during service flow. A large drop indicates restriction in the resin bed.
- 2. Increase backwash time: Temporarily increase the backwash duration in the controller to help reclassify the resin bed.
- 3. Perform a manual regeneration: Run a full regeneration and observe backwash discharge. Cloudy or rusty water suggests fouled resin.
- 4. Chemical cleaning: If iron fouling is suspected, use a resin cleaner approved for the Amfa4000 and follow the product instructions.
If E17 persists and flow remains restricted, the resin may need to be partially or fully replaced, and the distributor tube and bottom screen inspected.
