Possible Causes

Collapsed resin bed, Blocked outlet screen, Excessive iron fouling in resin, Incorrect plumbing or closed outlet valve

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Shut off power and close the inlet valve. Open a downstream tap to relieve pressure.

  • Check bypass and valves: Verify the Aqmos bypass is not accidentally closed. Ensure outlet shutoff valves are fully open.
  • Test in bypass: Place the softener in bypass mode. If water flow returns, the blockage is inside the softener.
  • Inspect outlet screen: Remove the outlet connection and check for a mesh screen or diffuser clogged with resin beads or debris. Clean or replace as needed.
  • Check for resin discharge: Look at faucet aerators and strainers for resin beads. Presence of beads suggests internal damage to the distributor or screens.
  • Backwash manually: If possible, initiate a manual backwash to loosen a compacted resin bed. Monitor drain flow; weak flow may indicate severe fouling.
  • Plan resin service: If flow remains restricted, the resin tank may need to be emptied, the bottom distributor inspected, and the resin replaced—this is typically a professional-level repair.
