Possible Causes
Failed brine refill solenoid, Blocked refill orifice, Kinked brine refill line, Control board output failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and close the inlet valve before working on the valve head.
- Check brine tank water level: After a full regeneration, there should be a small amount of water in the brine tank. If it is completely dry, E09 is consistent with no refill.
- Inspect refill line: Trace the small tube from the valve head to the brine tank. Straighten any kinks and ensure fittings are tight.
- Clean refill orifice: Remove the brine refill fitting or orifice from the valve head. Soak in vinegar or warm water to dissolve scale, then rinse and reinstall.
- Test solenoid coil: With power off, disconnect the brine refill solenoid and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed coil that must be replaced.
- Check control output: During the refill stage (refer to cycle timing), measure voltage at the solenoid connector. No voltage with a known-good board configuration suggests a PCB fault.
- Replace defective parts: Install a new brine refill valve/solenoid if faulty. If the solenoid is good but never energized, replace or repair the control PCB.
