Possible Causes
Loss of position reference after outage, Faulty cam position sensor, Stiff or binding valve piston, Incorrect reassembly of cam gear
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and isolate the softener with its bypass valves.
- Manual homing: Remove the control cover and manually rotate the cam/gear to the service position as indicated in the Aqmos service manual.
- Inspect cam sensor: Check the position sensor (microswitch or Hall sensor) for secure mounting and proper alignment with the cam.
- Lubricate or service piston: If the piston feels stiff when moved manually, remove it and inspect seals and spacers. Replace the seal kit if worn and lubricate with manufacturer-approved silicone grease.
- Reassemble correctly: Ensure the cam gear is installed in the correct orientation relative to the piston and sensor marks.
- Power up and test: Restore power and run a manual regeneration. If E16 recurs, replace the position sensor or entire valve head as recommended by Aqmos.
