Possible Causes
Clogged inlet/outlet screens, Fouled resin bed, Undersized softener for flow demand, Partially closed bypass or shutoff valves
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off water and relieve pressure before removing fittings.
- Check bypass position: Ensure the bypass is fully in service mode and not partially closed.
- Inspect screens: Remove inlet and outlet connections and clean any mesh screens or diffusers.
- Test in bypass: Place the unit in bypass. If pressure improves significantly, the restriction is inside the softener.
- Backwash resin: Run a manual regeneration to backwash and reclassify the resin bed. Persistent restriction may require resin replacement or upsizing the system.
