Brine Tank Leak
Water leaks from the brine tank or around its base
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Cracked brine tank, Leaking brine line connection, Overflow from stuck safety float, Hole from corrosion or impact
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and contain the leak to prevent floor damage. Brine is corrosive to some materials.
- Identify source: Dry the outside of the tank and observe where new moisture appears—at fittings, seams, or the bottom.
- Check fittings: Tighten or reseal the brine line and overflow fittings. Replace grommets or bulkhead fittings if they seep.
- Inspect safety float: Ensure the float shuts off brine fill and is not stuck open, causing overflow.
- Assess tank integrity: If the tank itself is cracked or perforated, replacement of the brine tank is recommended rather than repair.
