Possible Causes
Aged or exhausted resin, Iron or manganese fouling of resin, Insufficient salt dosage, Incorrect hardness or capacity settings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Wear gloves and eye protection when handling resin or chemicals.
- Test hardness: Use a hardness test kit to measure raw water and softened water. If both are similar, the softener is not exchanging ions effectively.
- Verify settings: Confirm hardness and capacity settings on the Aqmos controller match actual water conditions and resin volume.
- Check salt and brine: Ensure the brine tank has adequate salt and that brine is being drawn during regeneration. Correct any brine system issues.
- Clean resin (if fouled): If iron or manganese is present, use a resin cleaner recommended by Aqmos or your dealer. Follow product instructions carefully.
- Replace resin: If performance does not improve, plan to replace the resin bed. This involves depressurizing, disconnecting the tank, removing old resin and gravel, inspecting the distributor tube, and refilling with new Aqmos-compatible resin.
