Possible Causes

Failed main control PCB, Power supply instability to control board, Corrupted firmware or EEPROM, Internal short on display/control module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the fused spur or unplug the softener before removing any covers.

  • Check power source: Confirm the Aqua Dial transformer is plugged in securely and the outlet is supplying stable voltage. Avoid using extension leads.
  • Inspect low-voltage cable: Follow the low-voltage cable from the transformer to the control head. Look for damage, pinching, or loose connectors. Reseat the plug on the control board.
  • Factory reset: If the manual allows, perform a factory reset of the controller and re-enter hardness, time, and capacity settings. This can clear minor memory glitches.
  • Check for moisture: Remove the control cover and inspect for signs of condensation, corrosion, or water ingress on the PCB. If present, identify and fix the leak source before replacing electronics.
  • Replace control board: If E04 persists and settings will not hold, replace the Aqua Dial main control PCB or complete control module as specified for your model.
