Possible Causes
Damaged rotor disc or seal pack in Aqua Dial valve, Cracked valve body, Misaligned rotor after service, Foreign object trapped in sealing surface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water and power. Depressurise the system before opening the valve head.
- Check for mixing: Test hardness at a tap downstream of the softener. If water is partially hard when it should be soft, internal bypass may be occurring.
- Inspect valve internals: Remove the control head cover and follow the service instructions to access the rotor/rotor disc and seal pack.
- Examine seals and rotor: Look for cuts, flattening, or debris on the seals. Inspect the rotor for cracks or wear marks.
- Clean sealing surfaces: Wipe the valve body bore and rotor surfaces with a clean, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive materials.
- Replace damaged parts: Install a new Aqua Dial seal kit and rotor disc if any damage is found.
- Reassemble carefully: Ensure the rotor is correctly aligned with the cam and that all screws are tightened evenly.
