Aqua Dial Salt Bridging

Salt forms a hard crust (bridge) in the brine tank and water level stays low underneath

Possible Causes

High humidity environment, Using very fine or damp salt, Overfilling brine tank, Infrequent salt usage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before working in the brine tank. Wear gloves to protect your hands.

  • Probe for bridge: Gently push a broom handle straight down into the salt. If you feel a hard layer then a sudden drop, a bridge is present.
  • Break the bridge: Carefully work the handle around to break up the crust, allowing salt to fall into the water below.
  • Remove clumps: Scoop out large, damp clumps that will not break apart easily.
  • Prevent recurrence: Keep the tank no more than half to two-thirds full and use high-quality pellet salt recommended for Aqua Dial softeners.
