Possible Causes

Blocked inlet/outlet screens in Aqua Dial valve, Fouled resin bed with iron or debris, Undersized softener for flow demand, Partially closed bypass or isolation valves

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Use bypass valves to compare performance with and without the softener.

  • Compare in bypass: Place the softener in bypass. If pressure improves significantly, the restriction is within the softener.
  • Check valves: Ensure inlet and outlet valves are fully open and bypass is fully closed during normal operation.
  • Clean inlet/outlet screens: Isolate and depressurise, then remove inlet/outlet unions and clean any mesh screens or filters.
  • Resin condition: If screens are clear, the resin bed may be fouled. Consider resin cleaning treatments (iron remover) or a full resin replacement.
  • Check sizing: Verify that the Aqua Dial model is appropriate for your peak flow rate; if undersized, upgrading may be necessary.
