Possible Causes
Inlet and outlet connections reversed on Aqua Dial valve, Bypass left in BYPASS position, Softener installed on a branch line instead of main supply, Internal bypass leak in valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off water before altering plumbing. Depressurise by opening a tap.
- Check bypass position: Ensure the bypass handle is in SERVICE, not BYPASS.
- Verify pipe routing: Confirm that the mains supply enters the IN port and the house supply leaves the OUT port on the Aqua Dial valve.
- Test hardness: Measure hardness before and after the softener. If both are the same and plumbing is correct, internal bypass may be occurring (see internal leak entry).
- Correct plumbing errors: If inlet and outlet are reversed, have a qualified plumber re-pipe the connections.
