Aqua Dial
Water Hammer / Rapid Valve Operation Noise
Softener makes loud banging or hammering noises during regeneration
Advertisements
Possible Causes
High mains pressure without shock arrestor, Rapid closing of Aqua Dial valve during cycle changes, Loose pipework amplifying vibration, Undersized or restrictive plumbing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal electrical work is required, but be cautious around moving pipework.
- Secure pipework: Check that inlet and outlet pipes are firmly clipped and not free to move and bang against walls.
- Check pressure: If possible, measure mains pressure. If it is above the Aqua Dial specification, consider installing a pressure reducing valve.
- Install water hammer arrestor: Fit a suitable hammer arrestor near the softener inlet to absorb shock.
- Verify plumbing size: Ensure the pipe size matches the softener connections and is not excessively reduced, which can increase velocity and noise.
