Aquabion
Excessive Salt Consumption
Aquabion softener uses salt very quickly; salt level drops much faster than expected.

Possible Causes
Overly frequent regenerations due to incorrect hardness setting, Brine valve leaking and overfilling brine, Incorrect salt dosage programming, Internal valve leak causing repeated partial regenerations
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before changing controller settings or opening the valve body.
- Review programming: Check Aquabion settings for hardness, capacity, and regeneration mode (time/volume). Reduce hardness value if it was set too high and ensure capacity matches resin size.
- Check regeneration frequency: Monitor how often the unit regenerates. If it regenerates daily with low water use, adjust settings or investigate for leaks in the home.
- Inspect brine valve: Examine the brine refill valve and float assembly for leaks that could cause excessive brine fill. Replace worn seals or the brine valve kit if necessary.
- Check for internal leaks: Look for continuous flow to the drain line when the unit is in service. Internal leaks can cause the controller to miscalculate usage and regenerate too often.
Warning: Do not simply reduce salt dosage below Aquabion recommendations without confirming water quality; under-salting can damage resin.
