Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the softener by closing inlet and outlet valves. Depressurize by opening a downstream tap. Disconnect power.
- Inspect brine tank: Remove the brine tank lid. Check that the brine well is not overfilled with salt and that the float assembly moves freely up and down. Remove any salt bridges or solidified salt using a plastic tool.
- Check brine line: Follow the brine line hose from the control head to the brine well. Look for kinks, sharp bends, or visible blockages. Disconnect the hose at both ends and blow through it; clean or replace if restricted.
- Clean injector/venturi: On the Aquabion control head, locate the brine injector / venturi assembly (often under a small cap). Remove the cap and carefully extract the injector nozzle and throat. Soak them in warm water with a little vinegar to dissolve scale, then rinse thoroughly and reassemble.
- Check for air leaks: Ensure all brine line connections are tight and that the brine well cap is properly seated. Air leaks can prevent proper suction.
- Test regeneration: Restore water and power, then manually start a regeneration. Observe whether the brine level in the tank drops during the brine draw stage. If not, the brine valve assembly or control head may need professional service or replacement.
Warning: Do not use metal tools inside the brine tank, as they can damage plastic components. Always ensure the unit is depressurized before opening any part of the control head.
