Possible Causes
Obstructed drain line, Drain line air gap blocked, Valve not reaching required positions, Control board timing fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close inlet/outlet valves. Open a downstream tap to relieve pressure.
- Inspect drain line: Follow the drain hose from the Aquabion control head to the drain. Ensure it is not kinked, frozen, or routed uphill excessively. Remove the hose from the drain fitting and check for obstructions.
- Check air gap: If an air gap fitting is used, disassemble and clean it. Debris here can cause backpressure and prevent proper backwash and brine draw.
- Verify valve movement: Remove the control head cover and observe the valve drive motor during a manual regeneration. If the cam does not rotate smoothly through all positions, inspect gears and seals for binding.
- Reset controller: After clearing any blockages, perform a controller reset and re-initiate regeneration. If E10 recurs at the same step, consult the Aquabion service chart to identify the failing stage and inspect the corresponding valve ports.
- Replace components: Persistent timeouts may require replacement of the valve drive motor, gear kit, or main control board.
Warning: Ensure the drain line is secured and terminates in an approved drain to prevent flooding or contamination.
