Salt Bridging in Brine Tank
Salt level in the Aquabion brine tank does not seem to drop over time; salt appears to form a solid bridge.

Possible Causes
High humidity causing salt to crust, Using pellet salt of poor quality, Overfilling brine tank with salt, Infrequent regenerations
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Avoid using sharp metal tools inside the brine tank.
- Check for a bridge: Gently push a broom handle or plastic rod down into the salt. If you hit a hollow space before reaching the bottom, a salt bridge has formed.
- Break the bridge: Carefully break the crust by moving the rod up and down and side to side, allowing the salt to collapse into the water below.
- Remove sludge: If there is a thick layer of mushy salt at the bottom, scoop it out and rinse the brine tank. Refill with fresh, high-quality water softener salt to the recommended level.
- Prevent recurrence: Do not overfill the tank; keep salt level between half and three-quarters full. Use covered tanks in humid areas.
Warning: Do not strike the sides of the brine tank hard; this can crack the plastic.
