Possible Causes
Clogged brine injector, Failed brine valve coil, Broken wiring to brine valve, Blocked brine line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the softener and close the inlet water valve before servicing the brine system.
Steps:
- Check brine level: Ensure there is water in the brine tank. If completely dry, the system may not be able to draw brine.
- Inspect brine line: Follow the brine line from the brine tank to the AquaClean valve head. Look for kinks, pinched sections, or salt buildup at the fittings. Straighten or clean as needed.
- Clean injector/nozzle: Remove the injector assembly (nozzle and venturi) from the valve head per the AquaClean service manual. Soak in warm water and gently clean out any iron or sediment deposits with a soft brush.
- Test brine valve coil: With power off, disconnect the brine valve coil connector. Measure resistance with a multimeter; an open circuit indicates a failed coil.
- Reconnect and test: Reassemble, restore water and power, and run a manual regeneration. Observe whether brine is drawn from the tank.
If E02 returns and the coil tests open or shorted, replace the brine valve assembly or injector kit specified for your AquaClean model.
