Possible Causes
Disconnected salt level sensor, Failed optical or float salt sensor, Heavy salt bridging around sensor, Corroded sensor contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the softener before accessing internal wiring. Wear gloves when working inside the brine tank.
Steps:
- Check sensor wiring: Locate the salt level sensor in the brine tank (float or optical type). Follow its cable to the control board and ensure both ends are firmly connected.
- Inspect for salt bridge: Look for a hard crust or "bridge" of salt around the sensor. Break up any salt bridge with a broom handle or plastic tool, being careful not to damage the sensor.
- Clean sensor: Remove the sensor if possible and rinse with warm water to remove salt and residue. Dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
- Reset salt level: Use the control panel to reset or recalibrate the salt level reading according to the AquaClean manual.
If E06 persists and the wiring is intact, the AquaClean salt level sensor is likely defective and should be replaced with the correct model-specific sensor.
