Possible Causes
High water pressure, Fast-closing valve ports, Lack of water hammer arrestors, Loose plumbing supports
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Use caution when working around pressurized plumbing.
Steps:
- Measure pressure: Use a gauge to check house pressure. If above AquaClean recommendations, install or adjust a pressure reducing valve.
- Secure pipes: Add pipe clamps or supports to loose sections of plumbing near the softener.
- Install arrestors: Install water hammer arrestors on the softener inlet and/or near noisy fixtures.
- Check valve settings: Ensure the AquaClean valve is not set to an excessively high backwash flow rate beyond plumbing capacity.
Persistent severe hammer may require a plumber to evaluate the overall plumbing system.
