Possible Causes
Closed or partially closed inlet bypass valve, Clogged inlet screen on control valve, Low or no household water pressure, Kinked or blocked inlet plumbing to softener head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off electrical power to the AquaHouse softener and close the main water supply if you need to disconnect any plumbing. Depressurize the system by opening a nearby cold-water faucet.
Step-by-step:
- 1. Check bypass position: Verify the AquaHouse bypass valve on the rear or side of the control head is in the SERVICE position, not BYPASS. Rotate the knobs or slide the lever fully to SERVICE.
- 2. Confirm household pressure: Open a cold faucet in the house. If flow is weak or absent, restore main water supply or correct any shutoff valves before troubleshooting the softener.
- 3. Inspect inlet plumbing: Look for kinks in flexible hoses or crushed copper/PEX lines feeding the softener. Straighten or replace damaged sections.
- 4. Clean inlet screen: Shut off water to the softener and relieve pressure. Remove the inlet union at the AquaHouse control valve. Many AquaHouse heads have a small stainless or plastic mesh screen in the inlet port—pull it out gently with needle-nose pliers, rinse under running water, and reinstall.
- 5. Reset the error: Restore water, check for leaks, then restore power. Press and hold the RESET or REGEN button (depending on model) for 5–10 seconds to clear E01. Run a manual regeneration and confirm normal operation.
If E01 returns immediately, the internal flow sensor or control valve body may be restricted or defective and should be inspected by a technician.
